Last week I attended the annual Fashion Forward event. As you might have guessed, it was fashion focused.
Prior to the event we stopped at Alloy for appetizers and entrees. The trendy atmosphere was the perfect start to kick-off the night – and the staff ensured we were stuffed and ready for a night of cocktails.
We started with parmesan gnocchi drizzled with truffle oil and steak tartare with fresh chips for dipping.
I selected the tenderloin as my entrée, but the chicken was looking might fine. My steak was tender and seasoned, paired with buttery steamed broccoli and creamy sour cream mashed potatoes.
We were then whisked away in a limo to the event. Which after all the eating, we might have needed.
The Fashion Forward event supports Making Changes a charity which accepts clothing for women, with a focus on professional wear. It provides women with career counselling advice and work appropriate clothing to help them gain confidence and re-enter the workforce. Guests of the event were encouraged to bring their donations, in exchange for entrance into a draw for some beautiful Louboutin pumps or a YSL bag.
I sadly, won neither. But still, a great cause. Guests can mingle as they walk through the silent auction, browse local pop up shops, sip on champagne or the cocktail of the night, and snack on various appetizers hidden throughout.
Or perhaps purchase a ticket and see if they can spot the real diamond among a bunch of fakes.
I, of course, found the candy bar almost immediately and spent quite a bit of time filling up a bag. No one wants a grumbling tummy during the show! Or at least, that’s what I told myself.
We then snagged our front seats and quickly rummaged through our goodie bags before the runway show started.
We were even treated to a celebrity appearance.
As you can see, platform shoes, boho-chic layers, and printed patterns are this season’s trends.
After the show, I took the opportunity to hop up onto the runway and give it my best strut. Unfortunately, I was unable to keep a straight face.
It was a great event and a great cause!
