These past few days I’ve been hopelessly refreshing my Instagram feed, watching as all the fashion bloggers gallivant and parade through New York Fashion Week. How fun would it be to abandon your life, head down to New York City, dress up, mingle with designers, and be ahead of next season’s trends!
That being said, just because we aren’t there, doesn’t mean we can’t partake in a little style refresher. Here are some of the trends I’m noticing for early spring.
Push those black and grey coats to the back of your closet and make way for a pop of colour. Blue, pink, yellow, green…it really doesn’t matter. Pastels are really in and a bright coat always tricks your mind into thinking spring is closer than it really is.
If you haven’t yet noticed, blush is so in right now. It doesn’t matter if it’s a coat, a skirt, a shirt, or an accessory. If you’re already wearing it, hats off to you because you have your shit together.
For a trendier outfit, pair it with mint (like this bag!) or light blue accents. Or, if conservative is more your style, a pair of black leggings and a white sweater will do the trick.
Denim on denim
Somewhat of a replay from last summer, denim (or chambray) is really all the rage. It’s perfect for a casual Friday ensemble or a night out on the town. A chambray shirt looks great with a skirt or pants, black shoes, and any type of gold or colourful accessory.
This season, things have really kicked up a notch and I’ve been seeing a ton of denim shirt & pant combos. They work best if you have two similar, but different, colours and textures of denim. If you had asked me about this look a year ago, I would’ve said hell no…but now that it’s infiltrated my mind, I’m becoming a bit of a fan.
Wide Legged pants
Remember dressing up in your best bell bottoms and parading through the school like you owned the place? Who knew the wide legged trend would make another appearance. Honestly though, they look SO comfortable. I don’t know about you, but there are days I definitely don’t feel like putting on a pair of nylons or a tight fitting dress.
Pair this type of pant with a form fitting blouse or tank top.
I always love a good striped article of clothing. Blue (or black) and white are obviously the more classic colours, but you can find some pretty cute things in a variety of others.
Don’t just limit yourself to horizontal striped sweaters and dresses. The windowpane pattern is so chic (and really quite popular). I love its modern feel.
That’s all I have for now! Stay stylish, readers 🙂
