It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want toooo
Holla!! It’s me again, Sophie. Today is my 1st birthday! (Well really my 7th, but I’ll keep things in human terms for now)
My mom has been going on and on and on about this thing called a birthday for the past month. I didn’t really know what she was talking about, but when she told me I was having a party this past Sunday to celebrate, I knew that this birthday thing was something I could get used to.
So, let me tell you about it!
Sunday morning I woke up, jumped on the bed, and just generally couldn’t contain my excitement. I didn’t know exactly when this “party” was happening…but I figured it must be sometime soon. And then, when my mom brought home a box smelling of glorious peanut butter I just.went.nuts. For those of you that don’t know – I LOOOVVEE peanut butter.
Anyway, I watched as she moved around the house hanging these weird yellow balls. I was a little scared at first, but once I went near a few I realized they were cool beans. Floating around and dangling from different shelves, I was pretty impressed. Apparently, they’re called balloons. Anyway, there are still a few kicking around today.
I kept peaking at the spread – I noticed a ton of different doggie treats, which suggested that I would be having a playmate over. And then I noticed a few human people treats as well. I tried to sneak a few, but I was thwarted. I love me a good salt & vinegar chip or two.
In no time there was a knock at the door and I raced over to see who it was.
Guess who?! My best pal Mila was waiting for me with my besties Paul & Anna. They are so cool. They live across the hall and whenever I see an opening in their door, I rush through and make myself at home.
Anyway, me and Mila got right down to business saying hi and playing with my toys. I have quite a few rope toys and some kongs and bones, so I was happy to share.
Our parents wanted to take a few pics of us, so we tried to be good girls. Although we’re smart enough to let them know we would need a little incentive to stay still. I am very food motivated. What can I say though, I love it!
Anna brought me a pretty sweet handmade card. Don’t I look super cute in it?!
And she helped me to unwrap my gift which was a stuffed pink flamingo.
I immediately loved it. I felt like being a bum so I taunted Mila with it for a bit. It was my birthday party after all! After that we took turns playing with my flamingo a bit more and rotated between the humans for maximum pets.
Then, I got a giant whiff of peanut butter and noticed my mom had brought that box out again. She told me that it was a birthday cake just for me!
I even got to blow out my own candle… but I was a little excited so I had to get some help.
^ we have lift-off ^
^ I guess I was too heavy ^
I shared some with Mila and we both chowed down. It was so tasty! It was the thickest cake ever, stuffed with peanut butter and carob (since I can’t have chocolate).
The icing was made from cream cheese and there were the coolest little sprinkles around the edges.
Plus, it was yellow. If you can’t tell by now, yellow is my favourite colour! When I was born, they referred to me as “yellow female”, and it kind of stuck.
After stuffing our bellies and searching for any leftover crumbs it was time for my guests to leave. I didn’t want them to, but as soon as they did, I realized I was just pooped! I really am a spoiled little pup!
Can’t wait for my next birthday!! Hopefully there is some leftover cake for me to eat tonight…
PS – If you’re wondering where my cake is from, check out Bon-a-pet-treat! Mine is “muddy nutty” but they all look delish.
