It’s a Bernese Party!

I have quite the treat in store for you today – a guest post from the one and only Sophie! She had quite the eventful weekend and is pretty eager to share it with you.

Keep in mind she is only 9 months…

Hello everyone! I am so so so excited to be sharing my weekend plans with all of you out there in the blogosphere! (Isn’t that a big word? My mom told me it! I’m such a smart girl)

Saturday morning I slept in as usual – I hate getting up early during the weekdays! How exhausting! Luckily, after my parents leave I get to munch on peanut butter and snooze until the late afternoon. Sucks for them!

Once I woke up, I jumped in the bed and rolled around looking for attention. The bed is so warm and squishy and if I stomp a few times on the humans they usually wake up and give me cuddles.

But I didn’t get to stay in the bed for long before I was leashed up and taken down to the vehicle. Riding in the vehicle is so much fun, I love to stare out the back window and watch all the cars. Sometimes I see other doggies staring back at me and we have a secret little conversation.

I hopped right in like a good girl and we were on the way. I wished my favourite song “Heaven in our Headlights” would come on the radio but for now I was content to be going on an adventure.

We pulled up to a window smelling of yummy food, where my mom ordered a snack. I whined in hopes that she would feel bad and give me some. But she wasn’t in a sharing mood. That being said, what seemed like hours later, something warm came flying at me and hit me on the nose. A chicken nugget, my favourite!! I gobbled it right up.

We drove for ages along the highway passing by snowy farms and other animals, all the while singing along to the radio. I was happy to be sitting in the warm vehicle and not standing out in the cold. It certainly didn’t look very fun. Then we passed by this weird, tall, moving vehicle with giant wheels and some sort of digging tool attached to the front. Did I mention I like digging? I was a little nervous but my mom told me it was a Tractor. I decided I was okay with it.

Along we went until we reached a big metal fence. All of a sudden it clicked open and I knew where we were. I was going to see my half-sister, Flower!! I got a bit too excited and was told to stop jumping and freaking out. But I love my sister so I couldn’t help it.

^Silly flower, cameras aren’t for eating^

All of a sudden I was out and about, running and playing like a crazy little girl. It is so hard for me to find a good play buddy so I knew I had to make the most of it.

Then my mom told me what the surprise was – I was at a Bernese party!!!!! Another of my kind was coming along and we could jump and play and eat snow until our hearts were content.

^Aren’t we two good looking sisters? Boys watch out! ^

I met my new friend, Olive, and all three of us ran around and wrestled. Our humans got all dressed up in warm jackets and boots – they aren’t as lucky as us with our warm fur coats – and on we went.

We hiked all around the property.

I waddled my way across wooden bridges and swam in the icy creek. Us Berners got to keep cool.

My mom wouldn’t let me walk on the ice, but I sure tried.

We ran around through the trees and I sniffed around for rabbits and voles. My pal Cayden led the way to make sure we wouldn’t get lost. Up over hills we went and down through the ravine.

I heard the drum of a prairie chicken’s wings, but wasn’t fast enough to see it. The others seemed very intent on going to discover, but I like hanging out close to the humans so I stayed behind.

My best buddy Flower and me trecked through the snow, coming back for pets every once in a while. A few times I almost knocked over the humans…I still haven’t learned how to pump the breaks once I get running.

My mom made me stop for so many photo ops, but I didn’t mind because I know I’m a pretty girl. She seemed mad that me and Flower Power wouldn’t stay still, but we were just too happy!

^ Don’t I look so wise? I made sure I got a good “thinking” shot. ^

After a big big hike up a hill we were back at the house.

I was a little pooped but I decided to keep on playing. We ditched the others and formed our own little Bernese club. (I’m on the left, Flower is in the middle, and Olive on the right)

^ Switched it up on you! Can you tell who is who? ^

After a while I noticed something warm and glowing so I went to investigate. I was told it was a fire. I wanted to go closer but my mom seemed nervous that my tail would burn…whatever that means.

^ My mom took off her hat…what about me! I was hot sitting by it too! ^

I played with a stick for a bit with my friends but after a while I was tired and feeling a bit antisocial.

I wanted to stay for hot dogs, but I also missed Cole and my big sis Sparks. Mom told me it was time to leave so I ran up to the vehicle and hopped back in.

I was a little dirty so I got to sit on a blanket. It was so warm and cozy that I feel asleep the whole way home!

The next day my mom treated me with a special spa date with my best girlie Mila. We had our coats bathed, brushed, and blow dried which was very warm and relaxing. And to top it all off, we got manis and pedis. All dressed to impressed, Mila got a bandana and I got pink bows.

I knew I was looking quite pretty so I posed for a few model shots to make mom happy.
