When I left you we had rented a sweet ride and were cruising around the Greek island of Naxos. After a brief stop and a few refreshments (it’s important to stay hydrated when working on your tan!), we had a few hours left on the rental.
On the advice of our well traveled friends (thanks Jay & Sylvie) we headed to the Eggares Olive Press.
Along the drive we admired the beautiful coastal views.
And this beautiful building which we assumed was a church.
After about 30 minutes of driving – when it should have taken a quick 10 – we realized we must have made a wrong turn and headed back down the road.
Finally, we saw the Olive Press sign, and guess what it was standing in front of…
All feeling a bit silly, we hurried in before it closed.
A few historic pieces greeted us, such as this massive olive press.
But onto the real stuff – the food tasting.
We chowed down on biscuits and lemon olive oil loaf.
Loading each piece up with olive marmalade, fig jam, and olive pastes.
Although tiny, the store had every olive based product you could think of! It was an absolute blast and a must-see if you’re in the area.
