Burgers & Fries at Clive

Given the short time span of “summer” in Calgary, when I awoke this morning to find it sunny and somewhat warm, I knew I needed to get out of bed and do something. I quickly showered, got dressed, and then sat down to think about my next step.

Looking for a quick (but tasty lunch) Cole and I headed to Clive Burger.

Literally just down the street, we put on our coats, got Sophie ready with her leash, and headed out the door. I was already beginning to look forward to their fries – and it is probably an underestimate to say Cole was looking forward to his burger.

Clive is easily one of the top burger joints in Calgary. The patties are fresh and filled with natural flavour – all the joys of Alberta beef. Whenever I have guests visit from out of town, I make it a point to bring them by for a meal.

We ordered a large fries to share – and I added a little vinegar on top of mine. The fries are excellent – home-cooked, salty but not too salty, and crispy. The burgers might be the best in Calgary, but it isn’t a complete meal unless you order a few fries to accompany them.

We placed our order and headed out to the patio to enjoy the fresh air. Our meal came out in the classic brown paper bag, and we happily dug in. Even Sophie was roaming around looking to snag a few fallen morsels.

We each washed our meal down with one of their Blue Sky sodas – Cole always fancies a cherry vanilla cola, but I’m more of a regular cola fan.

After avoiding drinking pop for the week, I was happy to finally enjoy one.

We finished our meals, shared a few smiles with the other customers, and headed for home.

  1. I must say, T, that I turn to your blog when I want to find out about new dining places. On your recommendation, I’m going to check out Corbeaux and Clive. Love the photos, and the very well-informing notes. Keep it up.
